SMART FACTORY

Identify rationalization potential

Smart Factory Event focuses on Focus on the digitalization of concrete plants

"BIM, MES and ERP - concrete plants in the digitalization competition": This was the title of the "Smart Factory" conference held by Softbauware and the Progress Group at the end of October. The manufacturer in the field of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and the full-service provider in the precast industry for automation, digitalization and construction systems pooled their joint expertise. Around 40 participants from 15 companies in the concrete construction industry accepted the invitation to Brixen (South Tyrol).

What potential savings can be achieved by introducing an ERP solution? How can efficiency in the planning process be increased? And what role does artificial intelligence play in the precast concrete plant? Softbauware and the Progress Group focused on these and other questions at the "Smart Factory" event. Under the title "BIM, MES and ERP - concrete plants in the digitalization competition", the speakers addressed new rationalization potentials through software in the concrete industry. Softbauware Managing Director Andreas Hougardy gave an insight into the rationalization effects that can be achieved through the use of integrated ERP solutions. Valentin Hellweger, Software Engineer at Progress Software Development, presented "BIMpro" - a plug-in for Autodesk Revit that enables a fast, simple and reliable planning process for precast elements. Richard Hellrigl, Managing Director of Progress Software Development, explained how software solutions with artificial intelligence and image recognition support the precast industry. "The lively interest in the wide range of topics and the intensive exchange also show us that the industry recognizes the potential that can be tapped into through digitalization and sees it as an opportunity to improve its own value creation," explains Hougardy.

In addition to the specialist presentations, participants had the opportunity to visit the Progress Group's own precast plant and new headquarters in Brixen. Networking was not neglected either thanks to the culinary supporting program.
